I had a White Christmas

Mostly for the reason that my companion is Elder White.

Anyway this week went by super fast. I can't believe how fast time
fly's.  Christmas was spectacular and everything that could be expected
of a Christmas in Chile. We had a barbecue with the members of our
extension of a ward on Tuesday. So basically we just gave juice
(wasted time) the whole day. On Christmas Eve we ate dinner at a
members house with their non Mormon family. It was a really great
dinner. We even had American style salad because my comp had mix for
salad dressing and made a salad. there was turkey, chicken, and smoked
salmon and a small assortment of cheeses. Christmas morning we made
pancakes with mix from the states and we also made bacon and eggs.
Skype went well and we didn't have any technical difficulties.
Especially amazing because I am in South America.

I am really excited for the new year and to be able to work even more
as a missionary. In the spirit of this Christmas season I would like
to bear witness that a savior has been born and He is Jesus.

Much love

Twas the week before Navidad

This week has been really great. I said goodbye to elder Cox but I got

to get to know Elder White. He is from the big city of Vernal Utah
and has like nine siblings. He is a really hard worker and really
focused. I am really excited to work with him.

The way the celebrate Christmas in Chile is yet to been seen completely
but so far it is fairly similar. They all have Christmas trees in
their houses and they decorate them the same. It is a lot warmer than
any other Christmas I have yet experienced but I am doing fine. There
is still snow on the top of the nearby volcano. I will not get to
touch it but there is white in my Christmas. Even if it is fourty
Kilometers away.

This week we visited all of our investigators and had really good
lessons. They all committed to go to church and then didn´t. However
recently our phone had a little bit of problems and some of the
contacts were deleted. Not a big deal because we have everything
written down. However I ended calling and inviting someone who we
hadn't yet taught and invited them to church. They accepted the
invitation and showed up. I hardly remembered the person because we
had only contacted them once and I thought I was expecting a different
person. It was a little bit of a fluke but I guess sometimes that is
the way God works.

Anyway I hope that you all have a merry Christmas and that you can and
are feeling the spirit of Christ in this Christmas. If not, ask
yourself why and then change what you need to.

Merry Christmas from the other land down under.

Cambios!!! (Changes, as in changes of companionships.)

This week was spectacular. We had a Christmas conference as a mission
and I got to meet a lot of new people. The whole mission was there and
It was great to see all the missionaries here. The president and his
wife both gave talks and they were wonderful. I feel a lot more
prepared for Christmas now.

So my Zone had another activity and WE WENT BOWLING! again. I really
thought I was better at bowling before my mission. I guess not.
Something to work on after the mission I guess.

Oh also this week I met this couple from England who are biking south
America. they were really friendly but the weirdest this is that when
we were saying goodbye they said, "Cheers." Thats all.

So I am going to be staying in Vilcun for another two months but I am
happy with that. I am however getting a new Companion. His name is
Elder White but I have yet to meet him. I will send a picture of him
next week.

It is definetly not going to be a white christmas.

This week went super fast. I went on another exchange this week with
an elder from here in Chile. He is really cool and his name is elder
Urbina. Another cool thing that has happened recently is the Christmas
inicitive that the church is doing. There is a really cool video for
Christmas, actually two. You should all check it out at:christmas.mormon.org  It is super cool. We had an activity this week
in which I made baked potatoes for everyone. They all hated the Greek
yogurt. For those of you who don't know Greek yogurt is basically sour
cream. I will send some pictures of that and also the gingerbread
house we made last week.

So they called a new bishop here in the ward I am working in. It is
super exciting because the old bishop was super busy with his calling
in the stake and it was hard to get in contact with him. Also we found
out that VILCUN IS GOING TO BE A BRANCH. The stake sent of the papers
to salt lake so that Vilcun can become a branch. It will take some
time in processing and I don't think that I will actually be here to
see it all finalize but it is nice to know that all the work that we
have put in is actually visible.

In other news. It is hot. Really hot. Also Chile doesn't have air
conditioning. Sometimes if you are lucky you can get the wind to go
through your house to cool things down.

Overall I am happy. I am really content to be here. I don't really feel
that I have been away for that long. Next week I should be getting a
new companion. It is weird.
